Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive behavior  therapy (CBT) is an evidence based treatment approach that involves teaching children and adolescents coping strategies for managing difficulties that include anxiety, depression and anger. Through CBT, children and adolescents learn to identify challenging situations that can lead to distress or other difficulties. They are then taught a range of skills that include relaxing their bodies, identifying and changing maladaptive thoughts, using problem solving strategies, and implementing steps that result in successful management of the challenging situation.
